It's a wonderfully researched book by Barnaby Rogerson starting from the life of the last prophet then the Heirs of the prophet & the roots of the Sunni-Shia Schism. 

The book starts with the early days of Islam when Prophet Muhammad started preaching about the oneness of the creator & himself his last Messenger.The migration to Madina & the welcoming attitude of the indigenous people of Madina are praise worthy. The wars in the leadership of the Prophet  & conquering Makkah are  highlighting ones.The departure  of the Muhammad (P.B.U.H) from this world  is the end of prophethood.

The 1st caliph in islam is selected by the core committee who is Hazrat Abbu Bakar the one of closest companion of the last Messenger.

After the death of Hazrat Abbu Bakar the main committee decides Hazrat Umar Farooq as the 2nd caliph who's well known for a long list of leadership & management qualities but little hard on his Generals & the principles. The incident of punishment to his own son proves his justice system to be the purest one.Extension of muslim empire went to the greatest level at the time of 2nd caliph.

After the death of Hazrat Umar core committee announced Hazrat Usman Ghani as the 3rd caliph of Islam who was a highly successful businessmen and a greatest financial  support to the early days of Islam.At the time of Hazrat Usman infrastructure & the financial conditions of muslims saw the best time. 

The death of 3rd caliph in the hands of Kharjis is a tragic incident for the muslims all over.Hazrat Ali took the oath as the 4th caliph of the muslims but faced the opposition by Muawiya one of the Gorernor at Syria who was the son of Abu Sufyan & Hind.Hazrat Ali's refusal to renew Muawiya's command was one of the key motivations behind the civil war that would conclude with Muawiya's triump.

The death of Hazrat Ali was the sadest incident of the time when muslim world was already facing political disturbance & enmity among the muslim groups.

The next is Hussain Ibne Ali's  assasination in Karbla & then the list of those truth speakers who were honoured publicly & murdered privately.

Conclusion tells us the division of Sunni Shia sects in Islam, Abbasid,Fatmid & Ummayad caliphate & then about Ottoman empire.

The book is a great source of information where the incidents are shared chronologically with many  references furnished .

  I personally listened the speech of Moulana Tariq Jamil at PM house to findout the reasons of anger by the media & Feminists. The speech by the Scholar to my understanding was moderate & brilliant.He spoke in such a humble way that no one can have any issue. 1st about the media what he spoke can't be denied by even CNN & BBC but why Pakistani media is too much annoyed is the point to be noticed. Imaan Zainab Mazari is the daughter of well known politician Sheerin Mazari from the governing benches. Her previous videos against Pakistan Army spread a lot of hatreds & criticism where Pakistani Youth responded her through the social media at large. Sitting abroad now she has tweeted another video against the top religious scholar Moulana Tariq Jamil to prove her alliance with the so called anchors who criticised the Scholar according to their sick mindset.
