Book Review of Pakistan at the Helm by Tilak Devasher

An interesting & informative book.It is well researched because  refrences can be found for anything shared. At some points readers analytical mind tells about writer's perception creating efforts through the write up.

Devasher himself remained at the Cabinet Secretariat of India from Special Secretary to different other assignments.He has written articles for The Economic Times, South Asia Monitor & other news papers.

He starts before the birth of Pakistan and about the struggle of its Founder Quaid e Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah.He shares about the religious groups who didn't support the creation of Pakistan.

Pakistan's formation & the desire of Lord Mount Baiton to become the 1st Viceroy of Pakistan beside india which couldn't get fulfilled .

Devasher tells about the hard days of the beginning & how politics went on.The early departure of Mr.Jinnah was a big damage for this new state.

Writer talks about the childhood of Gen.Ayub khan, Army career & how he became  1st Native Commander  in Chief when he was only 42 years of age.

It shares the details of 1st Marshal proposed by Iskandar Mirza & how Ayub khan took th eoath as PrimeMinister on 25th Oct 1958. Riight after becoming PM how he kicked out the Planner of Martial Law.

Writer tells us about Iskandar Mirza that he was direct descendent of  Mir.Jaffar.Elevation to Field Marshal was a suggestion of Bhutto to Ayub.

Following the Indo Pak war of 1965, Gen.Ayub travelled to the U.S in Dec 1965 where he told Americans plainly,'If I break with America, I will simply lose my economy but if I break with China I may even lose my country.

Ayub khan's Operation Gibraltar & Operation Grand slam with the entry of Gen.Musa & Bhutto.The windup of operations & 6 Sep 1965 attack by Indian army.

Farewell to Gen. Ayub khan & Gen. Yahya khan as Chief Martial law administrator. To Understand Yahya's regime & Separation of East Pakistan one must need to read Hamood ur Rehman Commission report.

Bhutto' active involvement as breaker of Bangladesh & goodbye to Gen.Yahya who used to say Defence of East Lies in the West.

Gen.Tikka Khan's operation in eastern Pakistan with the orders " I want the land not the people "

Lt Gen. Amir Abdullah khan Niazi taken over as Commander East Pakistan on 10th of April 1971.

Maj.Gen.Khadim Raja was GOC 14 Div in East Pakistan who was under the command of Gen.A A Niazi.

Brg F.B Ali & six other officers taken charge of Gujranwala Div beside placing 3 Generals in protective custody & message through 2 majors for the Resignation of Gen.Yahya.

Lt.Gen Gul Hassan as new C in C & Air Force Chief Rahim khan by Bhutto who both resigned later because of Bhutto's policies.

Removal of Gen.Gul Hassan & appointment of Gen.Tikka khan as Army Chief.Bhutto nominated Gen.Gul Hassan & Air Chief Rahim khan as Ambassadors to Greece & Spain, Both resigned & from London did the press conference by telling the world that Bhutto had made the mockery of democracy in Pakistan.

Writer talks about the arrogance of Bhutto.
Bhutto was bad at forgiving people. Beside many flaws he was the leader of the masses because of having continuous engagement with the people.

Bhutto considered himself to be Indian citizen till 1958 by keeping passport of India but it was all because of his property case back in India.

Devasher finally comes to Bhutto's selection of Zia as Army Chief.Bhutto was habitual of making mockery of Zia which was always borne patiently by Gen.Zia.

Bhutto's end at assasination & Gen.Zia's Marshal law beside having Soviet war.

Writers continues sharing differenct anecdotes of all the rulers of Pakistan.

He goes in detail about the Corruption scandals of Benazir & Nawaz Sharif & the assasination of Benazir Bhutto.

Mr.Zardari's title as Mr.10 percent to President & What happened in the kargil war.

The book is an interesting source of information but as I earlier said one must read it with intelligent mindset where the Writer seems making efforts in building perception as desired.One must read both sides of the writers to conclude anything.

  I personally listened the speech of Moulana Tariq Jamil at PM house to findout the reasons of anger by the media & Feminists. The speech by the Scholar to my understanding was moderate & brilliant.He spoke in such a humble way that no one can have any issue. 1st about the media what he spoke can't be denied by even CNN & BBC but why Pakistani media is too much annoyed is the point to be noticed. Understanding People Understanding people is a lifelong process where our skill of Recognition improves but sometimes we see it completely failed. Chamberlain was the Prime Minister of England,Halifax was his Foreign Secretary while Mr.Henderson was the British Ambassador in Germany. Imaan Mazari & Freedom of Hatred

Imaan Zainab Mazari is the daughter of well known politician Sheerin Mazari from the governing benches. Her previous videos against Pakistan Army spread a lot of hatreds & criticism where Pakistani Youth responded her through the social media at large. Sitting abroad now she has tweeted another video against the top religious scholar Moulana Tariq Jamil to prove her alliance with the so called anchors who criticised the Scholar according to their sick mindset. In my previous blog I also mentioned going through the speech of Moulana Tariq Jamil at Prime Minister House that there is nothing can be called objectionable by the Scholar. He shared as observed & suggested as analysed in his humble tone while the critics as Imaan & the other Anchors understood according to own mental approach & way of thinking.
